Event description
This morning’s headline: "A Nightmare Come True: Hackers Ground Plane Before Takeoff."
A passenger plane was unable to take off from the largest international airport in State F. Something went wrong during an onboard system update. As it turned out, hackers had conducted a supply chain attack by injecting malicious code into updates provided by SkyTech Mechanics. As soon as the specialist uploaded the firmware upgrade file, strange things started happening. "We were just about to take off, but a sudden engine start changed our plans. The entire dashboard was flashing red," commented the copilot.
Due to the malfunction, the flight was canceled at the last minute. The airline management also suspended a few upcoming flights to inspect planes with a similar update system. Financial losses amount to thousands of dollars, as the airline is forced to cover canceled and delayed flights, passenger compensations, and downtime charges. Meanwhile, the plane has been grounded for several weeks: specialists must check all of its systems and eliminate the consequences of the attack.
